Ericsson Method

A pioneer in the gender determination field, 65-year-old Dr. Ronald Ericsson, developed and patented the Ericsson Albumin Method of gender selection. This technique aims to separate faster-swimming boy-producing sperm from slower-swimming girl-producing sperm. Sperm of the desired gender are inserted directly into the uterus via artificial insemination.

Specifically, a laboratory process is used in which sperm must swim through a sticky protein liquid (albumin), the assumption being that in a given period of time more Y-bearing than X-bearing sperm will speed through the albumin. By repeating this process, a sperm concentrate is finally obtained which contains a relatively high percentage of Y-bearing or X-bearing sperm than the original sample. The resulting concentrate can then be used by a Medical Doctor or qualified nurse to perform an intrauterine insemination.

However, the Ericsson Method is not clinically proven to increase your chances of having the desired gender, and most experts dismiss this method as ineffective. Any other sperm sorting or sperm separation method claimed to be used for gender selection falls into the "sperm spinning" category, and none have been proven effective.
